During January, the boys Kindergarten had an African study unit. They learned about the location, climate, culture, people, and animals. ("It's really hot in Africa. There are lots of deserts. It's so hot that the people get really tan, brown skin. There are lions and giraffes. The people don't wear shoes.") For Carnivale (Mardi Gras in the States), the kids had an African dress up day. They made animal hats and could wear any costume from home that matched the theme. We don't have any African costumes (except for a potential raccoon - do they have those in Africa?) so we stuck with the hats and some camo clothes (because camo matches everything, right?).
Check out my cute giraffe...
One of Ezra's teachers was dressed as a banana tree. Cute!
The class is full of animals! Ahhh! ... Wait, what else is new?
And in Mikey's classroom...
"Look out cute elephant, there's a ravenous tiger right behind you!"
The African tribesman will save the elephant from the hungry tiger!
In the next picture, Mikey is posing with Angie. Angie is one of the volunteer interns at the boys' Kindergarten. She is 20 years old and collecting intern hours at the Kindergarten so she can go to university next year. She has been babysitting for us a little on the side and she is wonderful. She has a very gently, playful spirit and the boys love it when she comes to the house to hang out with them.
And here's my adorable little elephant...
The next day was another costume day at both the Kindergarten and Daniel's school. The kids could dress of in any costume they wanted. Daniel picked "Danny-kin (Daniel + Anakin), the most skilled Jedi in the Universe", Mikey chose the raccoon, and Ezra picked Yoda (of course). Daddy was super psyched to do full make-up for each of them. Don't they look great?!!
I drove Daniel to school (instead of to the bus) so I could get a picture of him and his class. Here he is talking to his friend, the Ninjago.
Look at all those cuties! I love that this class has been together (same teacher, too) for the last 2 years. So great!
When I picked up Mikey after school, he was playing Legos with his best friend Fireman Marcel.
That's a freaky looking clown! I'm a little scared...
These two struck a post and held it like little wax statues.
